On February 20th, eight NYC High Schools will face off against each other at Wadleigh HS in The Rucker Showcase Invitational. This year will mark the fifth year Rucker Basketball has sponsored the event.
11am- Wadleigh vs Forest Hills
1pm- Cardozo vs Transit Tech
3pm- Xaverian vs Kennedy
5pm- Wings vs Boys & Girls
When asked about the significance of the Showcase, Gordon responded, “On addition to continuing the legacy of Rucker Basketball, our Showcase is right after the PSAL regular season, during the two week break before the playoffs begin. It gives the teams who are probably going to be in the playoffs, a preview of what it will be like in a game situation.”

Continuing the legacy and tradition of excellence and style on the court and off the court are Holcombe's grandson, Chris Rucker and Dexter Gordon, the Co-CEO's of Rucker Basketball. Rucker Basketball is a company that designs basketball attire for many NYC high school teams including Xaverian, Cardozo, Wadleigh, and Kennedy.
This year, Rucker Basketball attire has expanded to Philadelphia and outfitted the Philly Prep Charter.
i believe rucker basketball should expanded to south jersey(camden area)due to the talent that came out of camden and surrounding areas. camden is known for some of the great ball players such as wilt wagner, billy thompson, kevin walls, dewon wagner, micheal gilcrest and many more.(mainstream basketball of south jersey)
ReplyDeleteAs a New Yorker, I grew up attending the summer games at "The Rucker". It was our outlet, I don't know if Mr. Holcombe should be inducted or not, frankly I don't think that's important to his legacy. I think it's become important to those who didn't have the opportunity to have known him, and only know him through stories. Mr. Rucker is the creater and founder of something "Rucker Street Ball". But I think what you have to do is get people interested in who Mr. Rucker was, for the most part they only know it as the name of the part, the who, what, when, the general public does not know..
